It may be the 1920's, but in Brazil , it's still the Wild West. Cowboys, whores, gambling, and martial law abound. Set on the plains of Minas Gerais in central Brazil , this mini-series presents a gripping portrayal of the Brazilian civil war from a human perspective.

Jose is a simple, mild-mannered traveling dentist who settles down to make a life for himself. However, peace is not to be. When he finds his fiancée in bed with another man, he snaps. In a fit of rage, he murders the man. As a blood feud breaks out, he flees to the wilds and joins one of the infamous gangs of Pistoleiros (gunmen). Murder and mayhem ensue until the federal government orders soldiers to put down the civil unrest.

The Savage Plains, based on the best-selling book by Mario Palmerio, is a touching and emotional portrayal of one of the worst periods in Brazilian history. This series stars such well-known actors as: Edson Celulari ( Fera Ferida) Ítalo Rossi, Paulo Goulart ( A Muralha ), Mika Lins (Um Só Coração) and Tassia Camargo (Malhação).
